Nigerians React On The Corrupt Proceedings Of Government In Handling The Covid 19 Crisis

Some angry youths and citizens of Nigeria who knew their rights have been demanding and inquiring from the Government, about the agency in charge of the collection and disbursement of funds donated by a few known Philanthropists in the Country. Earn free bitcoin

The public has also called for an extension of the COVID 19 grants donation to reach other States, as there seems to be a kind of favoritism for those living in the Northern part of the country. Also, people have complained and appealed for the government to deliver welfare packages to in-houses, rather than causing chaos and unwanted crowd in the streets, as street distribution shows disregard for the social distancing law imposed by the government.

A news reporter on the case of COVID 19; "Kazeem Babalola", has further cajoled youths to charge and Indict the NCDC for not attending to ordinary Nigerians. A recent tweet from our reporter further illustrates more on these subjects;
"There must be accountability for all the funds which have been donated publicly and in secret in order for it not to be embezzled by unscrupulous politicians. We need to know the agency in charge of collection and disbursement of the donated funds for the treatment of the virus" Kazeem Babalola has said.

The former Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ), Segun Adewale has also deplored that several billions of naira have been donated by captains of industries, corporate organization and individuals to fight the COVID - 19, which is yet to be accounted for to Nigerians and how it has been spent in containing the virus. He further questioned the ability of the government agencies in charge of handling the COVID - 19 crisis, as the figures of cases, are expected to rise up to 39, 000, as predicted by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi.

Segun Adewale told "The Guardian" that President Muhammadu Buhari had announced that a N10 billion grant has been given to Lagos State, being the epicenter of the virus, while N5 billion was allocated to the National Centre for Disease Control ( NCDC ). He added that corporate organizations such as Access Bank, Zenith Bank, and Guaranty Trust Bank, gave N1 billion each with facilities for isolation center, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation ( NNPC ) gave N11billion as well.

Segun Adewale further stressed that Other individuals who donated N1billion each include; Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Herbert Wigwe, Segun Agbaje, and Emmanuel Lazarus who gave N2 billion, while Atiku Abubakar and Tuface Idibia gave N50 million and N10 million respectively.

I'm my opinion, It is of great importance that such grants be accounted for publicly and extended beyond Lagos State, as cases are reported in other States as well, and these states also provide efforts in combating the rapid spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria. from various sources gathered by concerned citizens across each state of the country, a known reporter from a popular News agency in Nigeria has further stressed in his own words and for the concern of fellow Nigerians;
 "I believe that the government should not represent these agencies, the donations should be given to a private sector to handle, where there can be proper accountability for all the funds donated".
He further admonished that the private sectors will be in the best position to give Nigerians periodic accounts of how much they have spent. He said the testing units should be responsible for announcing the positive results and not politicians announcing their status themselves, which will also effectively reduce the rate of anarchy and violations of law and order relating to the corvid 19 epidemic.

Help Save A Life In Africa!!

"For ages, Africa has become an experimental ground for the World deadliest diseases, Including Poverty, Famine, and Hunger, with 70% of Africans living under $1.5 per day, while "Nigeria" as a case study; has the highest world population of kids out of school numbering to about 14million, and about 9million homeless children respectively".

I don't know why governments play with people's help they prefer to do corrupt things instead of being bigger and helping their own people this covid 19 just puts government corruption to the serfuse. Is like thet don't even pretend anymore.

How horrible. This is a perfect example of how power corrupts. You know, our own government didn't handle this the best, but at least they are handling it. Please stay safe out there!

That is just so terrible. How can a government do this when their people are in such danger?

Aside from this being a very worrying time during the rapid spread of Covid 19, it can be made even worse if people think they can't trust that their government is doing the right thing. I believe it is more important than ever for all governments around the world to be as open and transparent as possible to reassure their communities that they are doing all they can to benefit their citizens. Hopefully, this pandemic won't last too long.
While the world is doing everything they can to stop the virus from spreading it seems that's to leave the politics out of it. thanks for sharing the situation in Africa and I hope the infected numbers should stay low and it will all be over soon - Knycx journeying
I'm sorry to hear this. I believe that every government tries its very best to stop this pandemic from growing. However, there are really some people within or outside the government who take advantage of the situation for their own benefits. God bless them!

This is such sad and frustrating situation. It's too bad that your government cannot put the needs of the people above their own greed.
It is sad to know that even to other countries, this is an issue. I am praying that things will be better for your country soon and for CORONA VIrus to be gone.

Everything that is going on right now is horrible enough to add governments being corrupt. People need to get their rights back and rise against politicians who fail at their work.

The government is clearly taking advantage of the cash inflows. It's really disgusting to see corrupt officials with people's taxes being used to their own personal gain. Even in my country, we have the same situation.

It's sad that this is happening not only in Nigeria but to other countries as well. I hope that instead of being corrupt, the government would do what is right and help more people in need.
There are so many corrupt people in this world. Ahh, nature will do the judgement for them.
So many countries seem to be getting this wrong or finding out the hard way that the people in charge are not the best
